1. Can you give us an example of a typical Telenovela?
Ugly Betty is a typical example. A simple, insecure young woman blossoms - despite all the obstacles that are placed in her way – into a successful, beautiful, confident heroine who knows – and achieves – what she wants.
2. Is there a telenovela you would have loved to have created yourself?
Of course – Ugly Betty. The stoy has a clear, simple messagethat has touched people from all backgrounds equally, making it an international success. This simple girl and her basic story has managed to inspire millions – brilliant! We are proud that Grundy UFA was able to present this great story to the German market so successfully.
3. What is the future for theTelenovela?
The genre now covers much more current topics, which was the case from the beginning, and so it is more relevant to the audience.A series that handles subjects that are pat of the lives of the viewers can reach an audience in a very different way.
4.Do you see emerging markets or sub-genres?
New Fiction is such a genre. I do not mean documentary fiction, but pure fiction, which will be implemented faster and cheaper than before. The audience demands well-crafted fiction, while the modes of production must be adapted to the requirements for the broadcaster. With experience, a lot of know-how and above all, creativity, we can exploit this potential very well.
5. What show would you currently not miss for the world?
For nearly 20 years, an integral part of the schedule and always getting better, Good Times, Bad Times!
