For 50 years, the Rose d'Or Festival has been one of the most important events in television entertainment. At the heart of the Festival is the competition, culminating in the Awards Ceremony at which the coveted Golden Roses are presented. The Rose d’Or Awards recognise originality, quality and creativity in TV entertainment and encourage excellence in television and new media. Over the years the festival has become one of the most important meeting places for decision makers in the international media industry, and the promotion of this role is key to the future development of the Rose d’Or. In 2010 515 entries were submitted to the competition – an all-time record in the Festival’s 50 year history. This impressive number of entries reflects the prestige and the high esteem that the Awards have in the international television business. Receiving a Golden Rose means more than just fame and recognition – a Golden Rose also gives a serious competitive business advantage.

Thanks to its international reputation, the Rose d'Or is a very important event for Switzerland and for the City of Lucerne.
